45 years into this thing we call life, and I took a few moments to reflect. I still have lots to learn and look forward to doing so. Some things I have learned so far:
- 1.Family is everything, but family is what you make it.
- I also need time away from my family.
- Meditating is easier than I thought and more healing than I thought.
- I trust too easily, but a lot of good comes from trusting.
- Buy the shoes. You deserve them.
- And the good makeup. Makes a huge difference.
- Tastes change. Food, clothes, wine, people. All good.
- Creativity lives inside me and it needs to get out.
- I have an angry resting face. I am always working to smile more.
- I want to read more.
- Set goals and don’t beat yourself up when you don’t reach them the first time.
- It is ok to fail. Actually, it is needed to succeed.
- I am hard on myself.
- I love naps.
- Be kind. A compliment to a stranger makes you both feel good.
- Watch a sunrise even on a random Monday morning. It can lift your spirit.
- You won’t get the sale if you don’t ask for it.
- No one else is doing what you are, the way you are doing it.
- Experiences over things.
- People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. And that’s ok.
- Talk to people, not at them.
- When someone is angry with you, call, don’t email.
- Embrace your friends. Treat them like gold.
- Call your Mom. If she is gone, call someone you love like a mom.
- Painting literally quiets my mind. Finding that has proven to be very healthy.
- Sing in the car or the shower.
- Breathe deep. More than when your watch tells you to.
- Decide to be in a good mood, and be in a good mood.
- It is hard to ignore the haters. No matter what people say.
- Know your weaknesses.
- Practice more patience.
- Buy yourself the flowers.
- The tough times happen so you can make way for the good times on the other end.
- Take the long way home.
- Walk more.
- Do it because it is important to you. Not because someone thinks you should.
- Vote.
- Give back. Whatever that means for you.
- You can be the ripest juiciest peach in the bunch, there is still going to be someone who doesn’t like peaches.
- Hire slow. Fire fast.
- You don’t have to show all your cards.
- Don’t jump too quickly on trends, make sure you love it first. It may be with you a while.
- Nighttime is magic. This has gotten my kids through a lot of bumps, scrapes, scary dreams… me too.
- Worry less. If you succeed in doing this, tell me how.
- Reconnect. With people, and places taking the time to do this will bring joy.
