Ah Fall!  I do get a bit teary-eyed as I watch long summer days fade into the sunset. But drowning my summer’s gone sorrow in some pumpkin spice coffee is exactly the trick to get me into the Fall spirit!  I love decorating for Fall.  A very close second to the Christmas season.  The natural inspirations around us are endless!  From changing maple trees, to beautiful birch logs, pumpkins, corn stalks, and more!  Here are my top three tips for Fall decorating.

  1. Layer! Layer sizes this means find a large, medium, and small and layer them.  This can be all of one item like pumpkins, or mix and match like a large hay bail, medium pumpkins, and small gourds.

  1. Incorporate different textures.  Maybe you have the hay bail and pumpkins but how else can you add texture? Try a fun cozy blanket, or stack some logs from the woodpile in the back, think about having 3-4 textures present, not all of the same.  This will give you depth and dimension in your design.

  1. Pick a theme.  This helps any time of year you are decorating.  Carry the theme from the inside out.  It can be anything!  Visit your local hobby or craft store for ideas and inspiration.  Think outside the decorating box. This year my fall theme is buffalo check (because I am obsessed with it and LOVE using it in decor) here are some inspiration pics of how I incorporate it!

Tonight I am going live in my Facebook Group, Functional Family-Friendly Design, to share inspiration and show you my Fall tablescapes.  You can catch the replay here.
